Bryan Ferry releases ‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1974,’ the full-length recording of an historic live performance from his first-ever solo tour.
‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1974’ marks the first time that audio from this show is available to the public, and features scorching live performances of songs from Ferry’s first two solo studio albums, including renditions of The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy For The Devil,” Lesley Gore’s “It’s My Party,” and other favorites from Ferry’s sphere of influence. The backing band for the Albert Hall set included Ferry/Roxy Music associates Phil Manzanera (guitar), John Porter (guitar, musical director), Eddie Jobson (piano, violin), John Wetton (bass), Paul Thompson (drums), Chris Mercer (saxophone), plus a 33-piece orchestra conducted by Martyn Ford. In its original review, Rolling Stone called the show “stunning,” adding “Ferry gives old songs new dimension.”
